Food is medicine,medicine is food

Food,the only thing I love the most.
Nothing can defeat the taste of mother's cooking.likewise the cuisine varieties of our mother land remains in our heart forever.

Tamil Nadu,my mother land is famous for its deep belief that serving food to others is a service to humanity.It has a rich range of cuisine involving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.On special occasions, traditional Tamil dishes are prepared in an elaborate and leisurely way and served in traditional style on a banana leaf.
It is considered that Tamil Nadu is the only State with elaborate menu of food varieties for feast.


Rice is the major staple food of most of the Tamil people.Food was considered as medicine by ancient tamil people.They lived a long life.

Tamil Nadu is rich for its cuisine, with most of the districts having their own signature dish.
Some places in Tamil Nadu and their signature dish are mentioned below:-

1.Thirunelveli-Halwa
2.kumbakonam-degree coffee
3.Ambur-Biriyani
4.Madurai-jigarthanda
5.Karaikudi-chettinad
6.Pazhani-panchamrutham
7.Srivilliputhur-palkova
8.Manaparrai-murukku
9.Dindigul-Thalapakatti biriyani
and so on...

Thanjavur is called as rice bowl of Tamil Nadu.Tamil Nadu plays important role in agriculture also.Tamil cuisine was divided into three major divisions.They are
1.Chola Nadu
2.Pandya Nadu
3.Kongunadu.

1.The cuisine of Chola Nadu region has specialties on dishes like sevai and its varieties with different chutneys and khostus or at most famous from this region called chidambaram,Kumbhakonam and Tanjore region is the high producer of rice dishes like Puliyodhari, sambha sadam , Kumbhakonam birinji and Amirtha podi sadam and varieties of millets, dishes like kutharai valli dosai and lot of dishes made out of them in this cuisine.

2.Chettinad cuisine comprising Karaikudi and adjoining areas is known for both traditional vegetarian dishes like idiyappam, uthapam, paniyaram and non-vegetarian dishes. Nanjilnadu cuisine comes from Nanjilnadu region of Kanyakumari district which forms the southernmost part of Tamil Nadu and India.Madurai region has its own unique foods such as muttaiparotta , paruthipal , karidosai and jigarthanda.

3.The cuisine of Kongunadu region has specialties.Arisimparupu sadam is unique to the region and frequently made in homes. Kongunadu cuisine is distinct from rest of the Tamilnadu by using coconut oil and coconut in most dishes. The region is the highest producer in Gingely oil, Coconut oil and Turmeric which reflects in their cuisine.
