Disappearing temple

Would you visit a temple that appears and disappears throughout the day?

Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple is the disappearing temple which is situated about 40 miles from Vadodara in the small town of Kavi Kamboi of Gujarat.

This Lord Shiva temple was found around 150 years ago.It shares shores with Arabian sea.It is believed that Lord Shiva resides there, and blesses those who dare to venture into it. It is one of the most famous temples in India.

Skanda puranam says that this Shivalingam was established by lord Kartikeyan after he killed Tarkasur.

What makes this Shivalingam unique is that it can be seen only during low-tide hours. At high tide, it totally disappears, thus earning the name ‘disappearing temple of Mahadev’.

This is a temple where god plays hide n seeks. When the flowers which were placed on the Shiva lingam by the devotees at the time of low tide comes afloat on the surface of the sea water at the time of high tide, it lends a spectrum of bright colors to the sea.

Hence people flock this temple in large numbers to witness the event of submerging or reemerging of the temple from the sea.

The scenic beauty of the place along with its religious prominence pulls a lot of visitors to the place.
