Gods against ghosts

As much as non-living objects like stones raise questions about science, certain practices done by living beings on living beings are simply horrifying. This temple follows certain rituals just like the baby tossing ritual and is known to get people rid of evil spirits.

"Exorcism" we all are familiar with this word by the horror movies that we watch.Any thoughts on what would be our reaction if it takes place in front of you?......There are a few shrines in India where this actually takes place. One among them is Mahendipur Balaji Temple located in the Dausa district, Rajasthan. It is known to relieve people of 'evils spirits' and 'ghosts'.

In this temple, live exorcism can be witnessed. It is said that whoever visited the shrine get some sort of hurdles as a sign of warning...Unlike other temples, we won't receive flowers as Prasad but black coloured balls which are supposed to be thrown into the ceremonial fire only after taking it over your body five times

When we enter the temple we are not welcomed by the sound of bells but by the screams of men and women. We can see people pounding their heads against walls and pillars and some even pouring hot water over their bodies which was very horrifying to even think about.

In one of the temple halls, children, men and women are tied to rocks and pillars with metal chains. Some of them are even beaten by the priests. This hall could be described as the hall of hell.

There is also a superstitious belief that we are not supposed to look back at the temple and to just leave the village without consuming anything(not even water). Those who look back 'fall prey' to the evil spirit.
